Former Pheu Thai Candidate Arrested Over Alleged Government Job Scam
Thai authorities have arrested a former political candidate accused of soliciting 650,000 baht by falsely promising government employment.
According to a report by Thai Post, police led by Major General Jaroonkiat Pankaew have apprehended Mr. Prawit, locally known as 'Nayok Heng,' a former candidate for the Pheu Thai Party. The arrest was executed on August 27, 2026, following an arrest warrant issued by the Region 3 Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases (Warrant No. 56/2569, dated August 25, 2026).
Authorities allege that Mr. Prawit solicited 650,000 baht from victims under the false pretense that he could secure them positions within the government civil service. This case highlights the ongoing risks associated with fraudulent schemes involving promises of official employment or bureaucratic influence in Thailand.
