Former Pheu Thai MP Candidate Arrested Over Alleged Exam Fraud
Authorities have arrested a former Pheu Thai Party candidate in Bangkok following allegations of soliciting bribes for local government exam assistance.
On August 27, 2026, Thai police apprehended 62-year-old Prawit, known locally as 'Nayok Heng,' at a condominium in the Bang Pho area of Bangkok. According to Khaosod Online, the arrest was executed by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) and the Anti-Corruption Division (ACD) based on an arrest warrant issued by the Region 3 Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases on August 25, 2026.
The suspect, a former candidate for the Pheu Thai Party in Si Sa Ket province, is accused of soliciting 650,000 THB from victims under the false pretense of having a quota to assist candidates in passing local government examinations. Authorities tracked the suspect from Si Sa Ket to his Bangkok residence before executing the warrant.
