Sansiri Announces Shift Toward 'Green Property' Model

Thai real estate developer Sansiri has unveiled a new sustainability strategy, aiming for Net Zero emissions by 2050 through a 'Green Finance' approach.

At the 'New Energy for Thailand' seminar hosted by Matichon, Uthai Uthaisangsuk, President of Sansiri PLC, outlined the company’s commitment to transforming the real estate sector into a 'Green Property' model. According to Khaosod Online, the developer is positioning itself as a leader in 'Green Finance' to integrate environmental stewardship into the core of its business operations.

Sansiri’s strategy focuses on the belief that property development and environmental conservation can grow in tandem. The company has set a firm target to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050. To reach this goal, Sansiri is implementing a three-pillar framework across all dimensions of its work, with the stated objective of reducing carbon emissions by 2 million tons annually.

For residents and those considering property investment in Thailand, this shift suggests a potential increase in the availability of energy-efficient housing and sustainable living environments. As the company integrates these green standards into its long-term projects, which are designed to last for decades, buyers may see changes in construction materials and energy management systems. While the company has publicly committed to these ambitious targets, the specific technical implementation of these three pillars and the timeline for individual project rollouts remain to be confirmed as the company transitions its operational model.
