On August 25, 2026, a serious accident involving a modified 'ping-pong bomb' occurred at a residence in the Satuek District of Buriram Province, Thailand. According to reports from Khaosod Online, the device had been altered with additional gunpowder, intended to create a louder noise for scaring away birds.
The explosion caused severe injuries to a 33-year-old man, identified as Anurut, and a 35-year-old man, identified as Makham. Both were rushed to Satuek Hospital. Anurut reportedly suffered extensive injuries to his hands, chest, and face, and was thrown against a concrete wall by the force of the blast. A third individual sustained abrasions and temporary hearing loss due to the intensity of the sound. The homeowner, Taweesak, reported hearing the blast while in another room and discovered the victims in critical condition upon investigating the scene.
