According to a report by Matichon Online on August 26, 2026, Transport Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit has announced that the government is moving forward with preparations for the 2029 World Horticultural Expo, to be hosted in Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat).
This decision follows specific recommendations from the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC). This preparatory work is a necessary step before the proposal can be formally submitted to the Cabinet for final approval.
For residents and travelers, this project represents a significant long-term infrastructure and tourism development for the northeastern region. The expo is expected to draw international attention and visitors to Korat, potentially boosting local tourism and economic activity in the years leading up to 2029.
At this stage, the project remains in the planning and data-integration phase. While the government has signaled its intent to proceed, the official timeline, specific venue developments, and final budget allocations are subject to the upcoming Cabinet review. Further details regarding the scope of the event and its impact on local infrastructure will be confirmed once the proposal receives formal government endorsement.
