Pattaya Prepares for Arrival of U.S. Navy Personnel
Pattaya is readying to host approximately 5,000 U.S. Navy personnel from the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group for a short rest and resupply visit.
According to Khaosod Online, the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) and two accompanying vessels are scheduled to make a short stop in Thailand’s eastern region following the completion of their mission. Rear Admiral Parach Rattanachaiphan, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Navy, confirmed that the visit is intended for personnel to rest and resupply, noting that no joint military exercises with the Thai Navy are planned.
Pattaya Mayor Poramase Ngampiches stated that the city is prepared to welcome the approximately 5,000 sailors and personnel. Local business operators have expressed readiness to host the visitors, anticipating that the influx of personnel will provide a boost to the local tourism economy. To ensure safety, the city is coordinating with the Pattaya City Police, municipal officers, and relevant maritime and land authorities to monitor the area during the visit.
