Elderly Bedridden Patient Refused Entry Home Following Hospital Discharge

On August 25, 2026, Ruamkatanyu Foundation rescue workers responded to a call regarding 77-year-old Damri, a bedridden patient suffering from fatigue and pressure sores. According to Khaosod Online, the patient was transported to Lat Bua Luang Hospital for medical assessment and wound care. Following the examination, doctors determined that the patient did not require inpatient hospitalization and authorized his discharge.

Upon returning the patient to his residence, the rescue team encountered an unexpected situation: the patient’s ex-wife refused to allow him back into the home. She cited her own advanced age and lack of resources to provide the necessary care as reasons for the refusal, asserting that she had no intention of abandoning him but was unable to manage his condition. Rescue worker Chaiwat, who has 30 years of experience, noted that this was an unprecedented situation in his career.
