Traffic Disruption in India Caused by Sleeping Driver

According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, a bizarre traffic incident occurred on August 19 at the Athirampuzha Palli junction in Kottayam, Kerala, India. During the evening rush hour, a red car was left stationary in an active traffic lane, forcing other motorists to navigate around it and causing a major bottleneck.

Bystanders initially feared the driver was experiencing a medical emergency. They gathered around the vehicle, attempting to wake the man by calling out to him and physically shaking the car. Despite the commotion and the fact that the driver had one earphone in, he remained sound asleep. Viral social media footage captured the scene, showing the driver completely unresponsive to the efforts of the crowd.

Police eventually arrived at the scene and reportedly discovered a bottle of alcohol and soda inside the vehicle. Local media identified the driver as Jobin Johnny, a resident of Kangazha. While the presence of alcohol was noted by authorities, it has not been confirmed as the definitive cause of the driver's state. For travelers and residents, this incident serves as a reminder of how unpredictable road conditions can be due to driver negligence.
