Authorities Raid Online Store in Pathum Thani Over Unregulated Food Products
Thai consumer protection agencies have inspected a live-streaming store in Pathum Thani following reports of the sale of potentially expired or unregulated sauces and seasonings.
On August 26, 2026, the Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) and local health officials conducted an inspection of the 'Sompratthana' store in Khlong 8, Thanyaburi District, Pathum Thani. This action followed public concerns regarding an online shop selling sauces and seasonings at unusually low prices, with allegations that some items were intended for disposal by the original manufacturers.
Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, ordered the investigation after social media reports suggested the products lacked Thai FDA approval and proper Thai-language labeling. Prior to this, on August 24, 2026, the Pathum Thani Provincial Public Health Office, in coordination with the Consumer Protection Police Division and local municipal authorities, had already seized evidence and initiated legal proceedings against the store.
For residents and visitors, this incident highlights the importance of verifying the authenticity and safety of food products purchased through online live-streaming platforms. Products lacking proper labeling or FDA certification may pose health risks. While the store has claimed there was no intent to sell expired goods, the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are currently working to confirm the full extent of the inventory issues and ensure public safety. Consumers are advised to exercise caution when purchasing food items at prices that seem significantly below market value.
