Weather Alert: Monsoon Conditions and Tropical Storm NARRA Update
The Thai Meteorological Department reports strong monsoon winds affecting coastal waters, while Tropical Storm NARRA is expected to make landfall in China.
According to the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) as of August 26, 2026, a strong southwest monsoon is currently active over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. While overall rainfall across the country is expected to decrease, the TMD warns that isolated heavy rains remain possible in the western part of the North, the central regions, and the East.
Maritime conditions are significantly impacted by these winds. In the upper Andaman Sea, wave heights are reaching 2–3 meters, with potential for waves exceeding 3 meters during thundershowers. Similarly, the upper Gulf of Thailand is experiencing waves of approximately 2 meters, which may also rise during storm activity.
Regarding regional weather systems, Tropical Storm NARRA is currently positioned over the Gulf of Tonkin. The TMD confirms that the storm is projected to make landfall in southern Guangxi, China, between August 25 and 26, 2026. Crucially, the department states that this storm is not expected to move toward Thailand.
