Thai Government Approves Flood Relief Compensation for 2026 Rainy Season
The Thai Cabinet has approved a budget of over 558 million baht to provide financial aid to households affected by flooding since May 15, 2026.
On August 26, 2026, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) announced that the Thai Cabinet has officially approved a relief package for citizens impacted by the 2026 rainy season floods. According to Khaosod Online, the government has allocated a budget of 558,739,000 baht to support those affected by the ongoing flood situation, which began on May 15, 2026.
The relief measures include compensation of 9,000 baht per household for those whose primary residences have been flooded, as well as a provision of 2 million baht per person in the event of a fatality. Deputy Director-General of the DDPM, Chairat Kaewpiangpen, confirmed that the agency is coordinating with 41 provinces and local administrative organizations to implement these measures and expedite assistance to affected communities.
