Driver Arrested for Impersonating Police Using AI-Edited Photos
A government driver was arrested at the Chaeng Watthana Government Complex for using AI to create fake images of himself as a police officer to impress women online.
On August 26, 2026, Thai Tourist Police apprehended a 29-year-old man, identified as Yuenyong, following reports from officials at the Chaeng Watthana Government Complex. According to Khaosod Online, the suspect, who works as a driver for a government agency, had been posing as a police officer with the rank of Police Lance Corporal.
Authorities discovered that Yuenyong utilized AI technology and photo-editing software to manipulate images, depicting himself conducting arrests and working alongside actual police units. He reportedly posted these fabricated photos on social media to impress women. The investigation was initiated after officials at the government complex reported his suspicious behavior, noting that he frequently appeared in public dressed in attire resembling a Tourist Police investigator's uniform.
For residents and travelers, this incident highlights the risks associated with digital impersonation and the misuse of AI to create deceptive content. While the suspect is currently in custody, the full extent of his activities and whether he used this persona to commit further crimes remains under investigation.
