Deputy PM Phiphat Denies Son’s Involvement in Senate Selection Allegations
Deputy Prime Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn has dismissed claims linking his son to alleged irregularities in the Senate selection process.
On August 26, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn addressed allegations raised by Parit Wacharasindhu, a list MP from the People's Party. Parit had suggested that an associate of Phiphat’s son, Bhumjaithai Party list MP Chalat Ratchakitprakarn, had contacted Senate candidates to influence the selection process.
According to Khaosod Online, Phiphat expressed surprise at reports suggesting his son’s associates had contacted as many as 19 Senate candidates. Phiphat stated that he has not been involved in any Senate selection matters and has not questioned his son regarding these claims. He emphasized that Chalat, as a list MP, should not be involved in Senate-related affairs. Phiphat asserted his readiness to address the issue during a parliamentary debate and warned that he would pursue legal action against those making accusations without providing concrete evidence.
