Thailand Launches 'FILMAZING' Package to Boost International Film Production
The Department of Tourism has introduced the 'Thailand FILMAZING Package' to attract international film crews, aiming for 10 billion baht in revenue for the 2026 fiscal year.
According to Khaosod Online, the Department of Tourism, through the Thailand Film Office, has launched the 'Thailand FILMAZING Package' to enhance the country's competitiveness as a global filming destination. Jaturon Phakdeewanich, Director-General of the Department of Tourism, stated that the initiative involves collaborating with film industry operators, tourism businesses, and relevant sectors to offer incentives and promotional packages for international production crews.
The project aims to generate 10 billion baht in revenue throughout the 2026 fiscal year. To support this, the department has held discussions with public and private stakeholders across nine pilot areas: Koh Samui, Chiang Mai, Krabi, Phuket, Hat Yai, Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, Pattaya, and Nakhon Ratchasima. These locations were selected for their existing infrastructure, filming sites, and support services.
For residents and travelers, this initiative may lead to increased visibility of these regions in international media, potentially boosting local tourism and service sectors. While the department is actively building an ecosystem to support these productions, specific details regarding the exact financial incentives or tax breaks available to individual production companies remain to be confirmed as the program rolls out.
