Southern Border Provinces Propose 57 Billion Baht Development Plan

According to a report by Prachachat Business, stakeholders from Thailand’s five southern border provinces have proposed a comprehensive development package totaling over 57 billion baht. This proposal, consisting of nearly 200 individual projects from both government agencies and the private sector, is slated for discussion during the upcoming 'mobile cabinet' meeting (mobile-Cabinet) to be held in Songkhla province.

Minister of Labour Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn noted that the proposal is currently in the preliminary stages. He emphasized that the list of projects has not yet been finalized, as it must first undergo a review process by the Joint Public and Private Sector Consultative Committee (JPPCC) to refine the scope and budget before being formally presented to the central government.

For residents and visitors, this development initiative signals a potential shift in regional infrastructure and economic investment. While the scale of the proposed funding is significant, it remains to be confirmed which specific projects will be approved and how they might impact local logistics, tourism, or regional accessibility.
