Oil Fuel Fund Adjusts Rates Effective August 26
The Oil Fuel Fund Office has implemented new subsidy and collection rates for fuel, impacting diesel and gasoline prices as of August 26.
According to a report by Matichon Online, the Oil Fuel Fund Office has officially adjusted its fuel subsidy and collection rates, effective August 26. Under the new structure, the fund is providing a subsidy of 4.59 baht per liter for diesel. Conversely, the fund is collecting 7.2 baht per liter for gasoline.
These adjustments occur as the Oil Fuel Fund faces a significant deficit, currently reported at 78 billion baht. For residents and travelers in Thailand, these changes are critical as they directly influence the retail prices of fuel at service stations across the country. Fluctuations in these rates are common as the government attempts to manage domestic energy costs against global market volatility.
While the new rates are now in effect, the long-term sustainability of the fund remains a point of discussion. It is not yet confirmed how long these specific subsidy levels will be maintained or if further adjustments will be required to address the fund's substantial negative balance. Motorists are advised to monitor local fuel price boards, as these adjustments typically reflect immediately at the pump.
