A new public-private partnership aims to transform the Rattanakosin Island area with a 13-rai elevated park connecting the Golden Mount to the Mahakan Fort.
According to a report by Prachachat Business, a collaborative effort between the public and private sectors is underway to revitalize the landscape of Bangkok’s historic Rattanakosin Island. The project centers on the construction of a large, two-story elevated park spanning 13 rai, designed to create a seamless pedestrian connection between the Golden Mount (Wat Saket) and the Mahakan Fort area on Maha Chai Road.
This initiative aims to enhance the Ratchadamnoen Avenue area, positioning it as a premier historical landmark that highlights the district's timeless charm. Planners intend for this development to capitalize on the future connectivity provided by the Orange and Purple (South) MRT lines, which are scheduled to begin operations in 2030.
For travelers and residents, this project represents a significant shift in how the historic district will be navigated, potentially offering a more accessible and scenic route through some of Bangkok’s most iconic cultural sites.
