Four Dead Following Motorcycle Collision in Ban Phai
A fatal collision between a police motorcycle and a civilian motorcycle in Khon Kaen province has resulted in four deaths and one serious injury.
On August 25, 2026, a tragic traffic accident occurred on the road between Ban Nong Phue and Ban That in the Ban Phai district of Khon Kaen province. According to reports from Khaosod Online Thailand, a police motorcycle operated by officers from the Ban Phai Police Station collided with a motorcycle carrying local youths.
The incident resulted in the deaths of four individuals: Police Senior Sergeant Major Thatsaphon Chaichana (29), and three civilians identified as Mr. Mintada (20), Mr. Anucha (21), and a 17-year-old minor. Additionally, Police Constable Sahaphap Maharaj (30) sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.
Relatives of the deceased youths indicated that some of the individuals involved had recently been released from detention and alleged involvement in illicit substance use. Preliminary reports suggest the police officers may have been in pursuit of a separate high-powered motorcycle suspected of drug trafficking at the time of the collision.
For residents and travelers in the area, this incident highlights the risks associated with high-speed police pursuits on local roads.
