Unusual Termite Mound Discovery Draws Locals in Nakhon Ratchasima

On August 25, 2026, residents of Taling Chan village in the Chorakhe Hin sub-district of Nakhon Ratchasima province reported the discovery of a termite mound with a distinct shape. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the mound, located under a large rock formation within the local community forest, bears a resemblance to a coiled Naga with its head raised.

For local villagers and those foraging for mushrooms in the forest during the rainy season, the site has become a place of reverence. Many have visited to offer flowers, garlands, and colorful fabrics, seeking protection while navigating the forest and hoping for good fortune. Some visitors have performed rituals using incense sticks to reveal numbers, with a reported result of 046.

Suksan Kraisiri, an assistant village headman, noted that the discovery reflects the traditional beliefs of rural communities. He emphasized that the Taling Chan community forest remains a vital, fertile resource for locals, providing mushrooms and wild vegetables. While the site has drawn attention for its spiritual significance, local authorities are also using the opportunity to remind visitors to maintain the forest's cleanliness and refrain from littering.
