The Thai Cabinet has approved the transfer of National Security Council Secretary-General Chatchai Bangchuad to the position of Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office.

Among the most notable changes reported by Khaosod Online is the transfer of Chatchai Bangchuad, the current Secretary-General of the National Security Council (NSC), to the role of Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office. Mr. Chatchai will succeed Yupa Taweewattanakijborvon, who is scheduled to retire on September 30, 2026.
Reports indicate that Mr. Chatchai was informed of this reassignment in advance. Notably, he did not attend the Cabinet meeting where the decision was finalized, having submitted a leave request despite participating in a security meeting with the Prime Minister earlier that same morning.

However, the transition at the NSC is significant as it oversees national security policy. While the Cabinet has finalized the move for the Permanent Secretary position, the appointment of a successor for the NSC Secretary-General role remains to be confirmed.
