NACC Updates Investigation into 2025 Local Government Exam Fraud
Thailand's anti-corruption agency reports that investigations into the 2025 local exam scandal have yet to link political figures to the scheme.
On August 25, 2026, the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) provided an update regarding the ongoing investigation into the 2025 local government examination fraud. Deputy Secretary-General Kiattisak Phutphan stated that while the probe has reached the level of former department directors, investigators have not yet found evidence implicating political figures.
The NACC is currently collaborating with the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) and various financial institutions to trace the flow of funds. Officials are conducting extensive field operations across the country to identify the roles of over 6,000 individuals involved, distinguishing between perpetrators and victims. This process is described as time-consuming due to the scale of the investigation.
Regarding recent claims by the House Committee on Anti-Corruption that the scandal involves approximately 9 billion baht in illicit funds, the NACC clarified that they have not yet received official data from AMLO to confirm this figure. Consequently, the agency declined to verify the amount at this stage but committed to following the financial trail to its conclusion.
