Ukrainian National Arrested in Buriram Following Restaurant Disturbance
A 32-year-old Ukrainian man was apprehended by police in Buriram province after allegedly brandishing a firearm in a restaurant while intoxicated.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, police in the Prakhon Chai district of Buriram province arrested a 32-year-old Ukrainian national on the night of August 24, 2026. The incident began at a local restaurant, where the man reportedly appeared intoxicated and placed a firearm on his table, causing alarm among patrons.
Following the disturbance, the man fled the scene in a black BMW 740iL. A local sub-district head (Kamnan) pursued the vehicle and provided real-time location updates to law enforcement. Police subsequently established checkpoints along the suspect's route, eventually intercepting the vehicle within the Prakhon Chai municipality.
Preliminary checks of the suspect's passport indicated that he entered Thailand on August 25, 2025, under a student visa status. For residents and travelers, this incident highlights the swift response of local authorities to public safety concerns involving firearms. While the suspect is currently in custody, details regarding the specific charges he faces and the legal status of the firearm remain subject to further investigation by the Prakhon Chai police.
