Thailand to Expand 'Thai Tiew Thai Plus' Tourism Scheme by December
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports plans to add 1 million slots to the 'Thai Tiew Thai Plus' stimulus program, with registration opening in October.
According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports has announced plans to expand the 'Thai Tiew Thai Plus' tourism stimulus scheme. Minister Surasak Phancharoenworakul stated on August 25, 2026, that the program will offer 1 million slots, doubling the original target of 500,000. The initiative is supported by a 3.5 billion baht budget sourced from the emergency loan decree, aimed at stimulating the economy and supporting post-flood recovery in northern regions, including Nan.
For residents and travellers, this program is expected to be operational by December 2026. The system will utilize the 'Pao Tang' mobile application for participation. Officials confirmed that the backend infrastructure is ready, and the proposal is scheduled for submission to the Cabinet in September.
While the timeline for a December launch is set, several details remain to be finalized. The specific eligibility criteria and terms of the program are currently being determined by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports in coordination with the Ministry of Finance. Prospective participants should monitor official government announcements in September regarding the registration process, which is slated to begin on October 1, 2026.
