Justice Minister Orders Probe into Leaked DSI Documents Regarding Senate Selection Case
Justice Minister Ruttapon Naowarat has launched an investigation into how sensitive Department of Special Investigation (DSI) files concerning a Senate selection case were leaked to the public.
On August 25, 2026, Thai Justice Minister Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruttapon Naowarat announced the formation of a fact-finding committee to investigate the unauthorized release of official documents. The files, which relate to a case involving alleged collusion in the Senate selection process, were recently publicized by the legal advocacy group iLaw.
Minister Ruttapon confirmed that the leaked documents originated from the DSI’s Bureau of Financial and Banking Crime and Money Laundering. He expressed concern regarding how these confidential files were obtained and disseminated. Consequently, the Ministry of Justice has tasked the Permanent Secretary with identifying the individuals responsible for the leak. Furthermore, the DSI Director-General is expected to file a formal complaint with the Crime Suppression Division to pursue legal action against both the source of the leak and those who published the materials.
