Man Arrested for Using Counterfeit Banknotes in Bangkok
A 24-year-old man was apprehended by Metropolitan Police for allegedly using fake 1,000-baht banknotes at a local business.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on August 24, 2026, Metropolitan Police officers arrested a 24-year-old man identified as Thanaphat. The suspect was taken into custody following an arrest warrant issued by the Thonburi Criminal Court on charges of possessing and using counterfeit currency.
Authorities stated that the incident occurred when the suspect attempted to use fake 1,000-baht banknotes to purchase goods on two separate occasions. Staff at the establishment became suspicious of the currency and alerted authorities, prompting the suspect to flee the scene before he was eventually tracked down and arrested. During questioning, the suspect claimed he was unaware the banknotes were counterfeit and alleged that he had received them from another individual.
