Khok Phanom Di Museum Remains Closed, Frustrating Local Students
A high school student's attempt to visit the Khok Phanom Di archaeological site for a research project was thwarted by the facility's continued closure.
On August 24, 2026, Matichon Online reported that Thanyaporn Kantalong, a 16-year-old high school student, was unable to access the Khok Phanom Di museum in Chon Buri province. The student had intended to gather primary research for a school project, only to find the site abandoned and closed to the public.
During her visit, she encountered Sujit Wongthes, a prominent cultural commentator, who was also at the site documenting its current state of neglect through video. The incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding the accessibility and maintenance of significant archaeological sites in Thailand.
