Thai GI Products Target Singapore Market at APAC Food & Beverage Expo
The Department of Intellectual Property has showcased six Thai Geographical Indication (GI) products in Singapore, aiming for 30 million baht in trade value.
According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) under the Ministry of Commerce recently promoted six Thai Geographical Indication (GI) food products at the APAC Food & Beverage Expo 2026 in Singapore. The event, held from August 21 to 24, 2026, served as a platform to introduce these unique regional items to international consumers and business partners.
During the three-day exhibition, the participating Thai entrepreneurs generated over 5 million baht in direct sales. Furthermore, the DIP facilitated business matching sessions with 15 importers and buyers. Based on these initial discussions, the department anticipates that the total value of trade negotiations will reach at least 30 million baht.
For residents and travelers, this initiative highlights the ongoing efforts to elevate Thai regional specialties into premium global goods, potentially increasing the availability of high-quality, authentic Thai products in international markets. While the immediate sales figures are confirmed, the long-term impact on export volumes and the sustained presence of these specific GI products in Singaporean retail outlets remain to be seen. The DIP intends to continue using such trade events to bridge the gap between local producers and the global tourism and food sectors.
