Khon Kaen Police Summon Heir in Land Deed Dispute
Authorities in Khon Kaen have summoned a woman for allegedly filing a false report regarding a missing land deed that was later found at a local temple.
According to Khaosod Online Thailand, police in Khon Kaen have issued a summons for a woman identified as 'Buakhai,' the daughter and estate manager of a man named Hiang, to face charges of filing a false report. The legal action follows a dispute involving a land deed that Buakhai claimed was lost.
On July 13, 2026, Buakhai requested a copy of the land deed, followed by an application for a replacement on July 27, citing that the original document was missing. However, the abbot of Wat Pa Adulyaram later contested this claim by presenting the original deed to land officials. The temple also initiated a request to transfer the title from Hiang to the temple. Following this, the Khon Kaen provincial land officer filed a formal complaint on August 18, 2026, after it was confirmed the document was never lost.
Buakhai is scheduled to report to the Khon Kaen City Police Station on September 15, 2026, to acknowledge the charges. Additionally, two witnesses have been summoned to provide statements on September 4. For residents and visitors, this case highlights the importance of property documentation integrity in Thailand. While the police investigation is ongoing, the final legal outcome regarding the land ownership and the false reporting charges remains to be determined by the court.
