Ancient Civilization Exhibition Opens in Phetchaburi
Culture Minister Sabida Thaiseth has inaugurated the 'Don Yai Thong' exhibition, showcasing 2,000-year-old archaeological findings that shed light on Phetchaburi’s early history.
On August 24, 2026, Minister of Culture Sabida Thaiseth presided over the opening of a special exhibition titled 'Don Yai Thong: The Prologue of Phetchaburi Civilization' at the Ratchadhamma Sapha Throne Hall, located within the Phra Nakhon Khiri National Museum in Phetchaburi Province.
The exhibition features significant archaeological artifacts estimated to be over 2,000 years old, including bronze drums, gold rings inscribed with Brahmi script, and human skeletal remains. These items were recovered during recent excavations that revealed traces of an ancient community and burial rituals, offering new insights into the early history of the region.
For residents and travelers, this exhibition provides a rare opportunity to view artifacts that define the cultural roots of Phetchaburi. The event was attended by local officials, including Phetchaburi Governor Pol. Lt. Phopchanok Chalanukhro and local members of parliament.
