Democrat Party Urges NACC to Protect Witnesses in Local Exam Corruption Case
The Democrat Party has petitioned the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to provide witness protection for individuals involved in local government exam fraud, aiming to uncover high-level political involvement.
On August 24, 2026, representatives from the Democrat Party, including spokesperson Phongsakorn Kwanmuang, visited the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) office to submit a formal request. The party is urging the NACC to implement witness protection measures for individuals involved in or deceived by local government examination corruption schemes.
According to the Democrat Party, current evidence from the South and Northeast regions suggests that the corruption may reach high-ranking political figures, including those at the ministerial level. Legal committee member Paisal Ruangrit stated that many potential witnesses possess critical information, including financial trails and the identities of masterminds, but remain silent due to fear of legal repercussions. The party argues that without protection, the investigation risks being limited to low-level participants rather than addressing the systemic issues damaging the civil service structure.
