People's Party Files Complaint Over AI-Generated Disinformation in Nonthaburi Election
The People's Party has petitioned the Election Commission of Thailand regarding AI-manipulated videos targeting their candidate in the Nonthaburi provincial election.
On August 24, 2026, Nattacha Boonchaiinsawat, a list MP for the People's Party, filed a formal complaint with the Election Commission of Thailand (ECT). The party alleges that AI-generated videos are being used to discredit their candidate, Decharut Sukkamnerd, who is running for Chief Executive of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO).
According to the complaint, these videos utilize the logo of the now-dissolved Move Forward Party and the color orange to create confusion among voters. The clips also feature the number 4, which is the official ballot number for Decharut. The People's Party claims these tactics are intended to smear their campaign while attempting to evade direct legal liability by using branding associated with the defunct party. Nattacha stated that the party has identified the individuals responsible for posting the content and intends to pursue legal action for the dissemination of false information into the computer system.
