Thai Meteorological Department Issues Heavy Rain Warning
The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall across several regions, while Tropical Storm Narra is expected to make landfall in China.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on August 23, 2026, the Thai Meteorological Department has forecasted heavy rain for 70% of Bangkok and various other provinces. The weather pattern is influenced by a monsoon trough passing through the upper North and Laos, combined with a strong southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.
Residents and travelers in the North, upper Northeast, Central, and Eastern regions are advised to remain cautious of potential flash floods, forest runoff, and overflowing riverbanks, particularly in low-lying areas and near mountain slopes. Maritime conditions are also affected; the upper Andaman Sea is experiencing waves of 2–3 meters, with heights exceeding 3 meters during thunderstorms. The upper Gulf of Thailand faces waves of approximately 2 meters. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea are advised to remain ashore.
Regarding Tropical Storm Narra, currently located in the Gulf of Tonkin, the department states it is projected to move toward the southern part of Guangxi, China, between August 24 and 25, 2026. The storm is not expected to enter Thailand and will not have a direct impact on the country's weather. Travelers heading toward the storm's path are encouraged to check local weather conditions before departure. As weather patterns can shift, residents should continue to monitor official updates for any changes in local forecasts.
