Weather Alert: Heavy Rains and Rough Seas Expected Across Thailand
The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall and high waves due to a monsoon trough and a strong southwest monsoon.
According to the Thai Meteorological Department, a monsoon trough currently extends across the upper North and upper Laos, while a strong southwest monsoon is prevailing over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf. These conditions are expected to bring isolated heavy rains to the North, upper Northeast, Central, and Eastern regions of the country.
Marine conditions are also affected by these weather patterns. In the upper Andaman Sea, waves are forecast to reach heights of 2 to 3 meters, potentially exceeding 3 meters during thundershowers. Similarly, the upper Gulf of Thailand is expected to experience waves of approximately 2 meters, with higher swells during storm activity.
Regarding the tropical storm “NARRA” currently located over the Gulf of Tonkin, officials have clarified that the storm is projected to make landfall over the southern region of Guangxi, China, between August 24 and 25, 2026. The department stated that this storm will not move toward Thailand and will have no direct impact on the country's weather.
