Suan Dusit Poll Reveals Public Expectations for Upcoming No-Confidence Debate

According to a report by Khaosod Online, Suan Dusit University conducted a survey between August 18 and 21, 2026, regarding the public's perspective on the upcoming government no-confidence debate. The poll, which sampled 1,267 people nationwide, found that a majority of respondents are interested in the proceedings, with 67.96% expressing either 'much' or 'some' interest.

Respondents identified several key issues they wish to see addressed during the debate. Economic and cost-of-living concerns topped the list at 80.58%, followed by allegations of corruption in local government examinations (54.54%) and energy pricing issues (53.59%). Other topics of interest included the management of the 400-billion-baht loan fund and allegations regarding the Senate selection process.

For residents and expatriates, this poll reflects the current political climate and the primary concerns of the Thai public regarding government accountability. Notably, 54.30% of respondents expressed skepticism that the debate would effectively hold the government accountable, while 45.70% believe it will. The most desired outcome cited by participants is a serious and continuous investigation into the allegations raised. As the debate approaches, it remains to be confirmed how the opposition will prioritize these specific topics and whether the government will provide the detailed clarifications that the public is seeking.
