Japanese Father Reprimanded After Leaving 7-Year-Old Son Alone on Mount Fuji
A 48-year-old man faced severe police warnings after abandoning his young son on Mount Fuji for eight hours to continue his climb.
According to a report by Khaosod Online citing BBC, a 48-year-old Japanese man has been severely reprimanded by police after leaving his 7-year-old son unattended on Mount Fuji. The incident occurred when the child complained of exhaustion during their ascent. Instead of turning back, the father left the boy alone with only snacks and drinks while he continued the climb to the summit with another son.
The child was discovered by mountain staff at approximately 7:30 a.m. local time near the 6th station of the Fujinomiya trail, at an altitude of over 2,000 meters. The boy had been waiting alone for eight hours in rainy and foggy conditions. Authorities eventually located the father between the 7th and 8th stations, approximately a three-hour hike away. Upon being reunited with his father, the child was reported to be exhausted and distressed.
