Update on Tak Bai Police Shooting Investigation
Authorities have issued seven arrest warrants following the fatal shooting of two police officers in Narathiwat province earlier this August.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on August 23, 2026, the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) Region 4 Forward Command has provided an update regarding the investigation into the deaths of two police officers in Tak Bai, Narathiwat. The officers, identified as Police Sergeant Hamran Ha and Police Senior Sergeant Major Wittaya Chaipromkaew, were killed on August 2, 2026, while conducting a drug-related search operation in Ban Bueng Chalam, Phrai Wan sub-district.
Colonel Ekwarit Chopchupol, deputy spokesperson for ISOC Region 4, stated that investigators have identified at least 16 individuals involved in the incident. To date, authorities have issued seven arrest warrants and have taken 13 suspects into custody for questioning. The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to locate the remaining suspects who are currently at large.
