According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on August 22, 2026, a 15-year-old student has alleged severe mistreatment by the owner of a military preparatory tutoring center in Udon Thani. The student claims that in late January 2026, he was restrained, handcuffed, hooded, and forced to consume an unknown cloudy liquid after being accused of attempted theft. The student’s mother stated that they fled to South Korea due to fears for their safety and alleged threats.
This incident follows previous reports from other parents regarding the same institution, involving allegations of forced marijuana use, extortion, and public humiliation. While the owner of the tutoring center has denied these accusations, the Udon Thani Provincial Education Office confirmed that the facility was operating without a valid license and has been ordered to close temporarily. The student’s family filed a police report at the Udon Thani City Police Station on January 31, 2026, but they claim the investigation has stalled.
