Tragic Incident at Benjakitti Park: Former Radio Personality Found Deceased
A former radio host and social media creator has died following an altercation at Benjakitti Park in Bangkok, leading to a police arrest.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on August 22, 2026, a 39-year-old man identified as Mr. Vichai, a former community radio host and comedian from Kamphaeng Phet, has died following an incident at Benjakitti Park in Bangkok. Police have arrested a suspect, identified as Mr. Taweesak (or 'Tom'), in connection with the death.
Mr. Taweesak reportedly admitted to police that he threw the victim into the park's pond. He claimed the altercation arose because the victim was behaving erratically and allegedly engaging in inappropriate conduct toward tourists, which prompted him to intervene to prevent the victim from remaining in the park area.
For travelers and residents, this incident highlights a tragic confrontation within a popular public recreational space. While the suspect has provided a motive regarding the victim's behavior, these claims are currently part of an ongoing police investigation. It remains to be confirmed by authorities whether the victim’s alleged actions were as described by the suspect and what the final legal charges against Mr. Taweesak will be. Visitors to public parks in Bangkok are reminded that security and public order are managed by local authorities, and any concerns regarding safety or public disturbances should be reported to the police rather than handled through personal intervention.
