On August 22, 2026, a foreign female tourist was rescued from drowning at Nai Thon Beach in the Thalang district of Phuket. According to a report by Khaosod Online, the incident occurred after the tourist disregarded red flag warnings, which indicate dangerous sea conditions and strong currents.
Lifeguards on duty attempted to prevent the woman from entering the water, but she reportedly insisted on swimming, stating, "I flew here to swim." Despite the clear warnings regarding the hazardous conditions, she entered the sea. Shortly thereafter, she was caught by strong waves and currents, becoming unable to help herself. Lifeguards intervened immediately, pulling her from the water in an unconscious state before successfully reviving her.
