Eight teachers from Ban Huai Mu School faced an eight-hour journey through flash floods and rugged terrain to return home after school.
On August 21, 2026, eight teachers from Ban Huai Mu School in Mae Hong Son’s Mae Sariang district encountered severe natural obstacles while attempting to return home. According to a report by Khaosod Online, the group—comprising two men and six women—departed the school at 10:00 AM, intending to travel 48 kilometers to Mae Sariang.
During their journey, the group faced dangerous flash floods, forcing them to cross 29 streams. The conditions were so severe that they were compelled to abandon two damaged motorcycles in the forest. The arduous trek lasted eight hours before the group reached safety. The incident was shared publicly by teacher Nuttamon Khunkam, who documented the ordeal.
For travelers and residents in remote mountainous regions of Thailand, this event highlights the extreme unpredictability of weather during the rainy season. Flash floods can render forest roads impassable and turn small streams into hazardous obstacles within minutes.
