According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on August 22, 2026, security officials in Surat Thani province have proposed the revocation of visas for two foreign business owners following a escalating conflict in Koh Samui. The dispute involves an Israeli restaurant owner, identified as Jacob, and a French pet cafe owner, identified as Kevin.
The conflict reportedly began after an argument at the pet cafe, leading Kevin to display a Palestinian flag and a welcome sign for Palestinians. Following a heated exchange over the flag, private messages were shared on social media, resulting in legal action. The Koh Samui Provincial Court has since fined Jacob 5,000 baht and issued a two-year suspended prison sentence.
Despite mediation attempts by local security, administrative, and immigration authorities to have the flag removed to de-escalate tensions, the situation has persisted. The matter gained further attention after an Israeli influencer based in France reportedly placed a bounty on the cafe owner.
