Authorities Mobilize Flood Relief Efforts in Nan Province
Thailand’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has deployed personnel and equipment to assist flood-affected areas in Nan.
On August 22, 2026, Suchart Chomklin, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, directed his department to provide urgent assistance to residents impacted by flooding in Nan province. According to Khaosod Online, the Minister emphasized the need for rapid intervention to support those affected by the rising waters.
In response to this directive, Theerachun Boonsit, Director-General of the Department of Water Resources, has mobilized resources to the region. The Department of Water Resources Office 9 is currently serving as a forward command center, coordinating with regional offices 1, 2, and 3. Nearly 50 personnel have been deployed to the area, equipped with 6,000-liter water trucks and other machinery to assist in relief and recovery operations. The department is working in conjunction with local administrative organizations and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation to ensure a unified response.
