Nan Province Flooding Recedes as Agricultural Damage Assessment Begins
Floodwaters in Nan province are beginning to subside, with initial reports indicating nearly 15,000 rai of agricultural land affected.
According to a report by Prachachat Business on August 22, 2026, flood conditions in Nan province have started to ease. The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives is currently conducting damage assessments across nine districts, reporting that approximately 14,963.18 rai of farmland has been impacted. The flooding has affected 6,538 farmers, with rice cultivation suffering the most significant damage, accounting for over 9,121 rai of the total affected area.
In response, authorities are preparing to distribute plant seeds and Trichoderma fungi to assist farmers in the recovery process once the water fully recedes. While the immediate flood threat is decreasing, the Office of the National Water Resources (ONWR) continues to monitor the situation closely due to the ongoing risk of heavy rainfall.
For residents and travelers in the region, this development suggests that while the most acute phase of the flooding may be passing, local infrastructure and transport routes may still be recovering.
