Department of Agricultural Extension Outlines Disaster Relief Procedures
Thailand's Department of Agricultural Extension has clarified the three-step process for farmers to claim disaster relief following crop damage.
On August 22, 2026, the Department of Agricultural Extension (DOAE) issued guidance for farmers affected by natural disasters. Director-General Anchalee Suwajittanont emphasized that to receive government assistance, farmers must strictly follow a three-step verification process to ensure their claims are processed accurately.
First, farmers must verify their registration status. It is essential that agricultural land is registered or updated in the DOAE database prior to the occurrence of a disaster, as this serves as the primary evidence for eligibility. Failure to maintain current records may disqualify farmers from receiving aid.
Second, affected individuals must submit a formal request using the 'Kasor 01' (กษ 01) form. This document must be certified by local authorities, such as village heads, sub-district leaders, or municipal mayors, before being submitted to the local district agricultural office. Forms are available at district offices or via the official website at disaster.doae.go.th.
Third, the application enters a community verification process to confirm the extent of the damage. For residents and those involved in the local economy, this announcement highlights the importance of maintaining updated agricultural records to ensure community resilience during climate-related events. While these procedures are now in effect, the specific timeline for fund disbursement following the verification process remains subject to individual case reviews by the department.
