Decomposed Body Discovered in Vehicle at Lopburi Temple
Authorities in Lopburi are investigating the discovery of a man's body found inside a pickup truck parked behind a temple.
On August 22, 2026, police in Phatthana Nikhom, Lopburi, were alerted to a grim discovery behind a local temple. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, attendees at a nearby funeral reported seeing someone waving, which led to the discovery of a man’s body inside a Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck parked under a tree behind the temple’s chapel.
Upon arrival, officers found the driver-side door open and the body in an advanced state of decomposition. The scene was described as having a strong odor, with the remains showing significant signs of decay. Investigators recovered a mobile phone from the dashboard and two sets of car keys from the victim's pockets, which have been secured as evidence.
For residents and visitors, this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of reporting suspicious vehicles or odors in public or religious spaces to local authorities immediately. At this stage, the cause of death remains unknown. The body has been transported to Phatthana Nikhom Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police are currently working to identify the deceased and locate his relatives. The vehicle has been impounded at the Phatthana Nikhom Police Station as the investigation continues.
