The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) has announced a new initiative to assist registered professional athletes in obtaining a second passport. According to Nanthaphon Thongnilphan, Director of the Professional Sports Development Division at the SAT, this measure is designed to resolve logistical challenges faced by athletes when their primary travel document is held by embassies for extended visa processing periods.

As reported by Khaosod Online, the SAT is working closely with the Department of Consular Affairs and the Immigration Bureau to streamline this process. The initiative aims to ensure that athletes can maintain their competition schedules without being grounded by administrative delays. A notable example of this support is the assistance provided to professional snooker player Thepchaiya Un-Nooh, the 2026 World Open champion, who required a second passport to manage his international tournament commitments.
