Thai Parliamentary Committee Promotes Digital Integration for Temples
A parliamentary committee visited Ubon Ratchathani to discuss modernizing temple management while maintaining traditional religious values.
On August 22, 2026, a delegation from the House Committee on Religion, Art, and Culture, led by Mr. Somsak Boonprachom, held a seminar titled 'Uniting the 'Bowon' (Home-Temple-School) Power for Temple Management in the Digital Age' at the Thot Luang Dharma Park in Ubon Ratchathani province.
The initiative aims to integrate digital technology into temple administration to ensure transparency and efficiency, while emphasizing that technological advancement must remain grounded in Buddhist principles. The committee highlighted the importance of the 'Bowon' model—a traditional Thai framework where the home, temple, and school collaborate to strengthen community ties and preserve national identity.
For residents and visitors, this initiative signals a potential shift toward more transparent and accessible temple management, which may eventually lead to improved digital services or information availability at local religious sites. During the visit, the committee also addressed long-standing land use issues regarding the Thot Luang Dharma Park, which is currently situated on forest land. The committee has committed to coordinating with relevant government agencies to find a resolution for the site's legal status.
