According to a report by Thai Post on August 22, 2026, Director-General of the Royal Irrigation Department, Wittaya Kaewmee, has ordered a heightened state of vigilance regarding water levels in the Yom River basin. Deputy Director-General Songphon Suaysom has been dispatched to Sukhothai province to oversee the situation on the ground.
The directive specifically targets the Si Satchanalai district, which has experienced significant rainfall recently. The Royal Irrigation Department’s Office 4 is currently tasked with monitoring water levels closely and managing drainage systems to accommodate the influx of water moving from upper regions toward the lower basin.
