Early Warning Systems Upgraded Across Six Thai Provinces
The Department of Water Resources has completed maintenance on 50 flood and landslide warning stations, restoring 98% to full operational capacity.
Between August 17 and August 22, 2026, the Department of Water Resources (Region 4) conducted a comprehensive inspection and maintenance program for early warning stations located in high-risk flood and landslide areas. These stations are critical for monitoring terrain in steep and foothill regions.
According to the official report, teams serviced a total of 50 stations across six provinces: Chaiyaphum (29), Khon Kaen (8), Loei (4), Phetchabun (3), Kalasin (3), Maha Sarakham (2), and Roi Et (1). Following the maintenance work, 49 stations were confirmed to be fully operational, representing a 98% efficiency rate. The department noted that these systems provide safety coverage for 111 villages.
For residents and travelers in these regions, this maintenance ensures that local warning systems are better prepared to detect environmental hazards during the rainy season. While the majority of the network is now functional, the status of the one remaining station that did not return to full service has not been detailed.
