Thai Airways Eyes Early Return to Bangkok-Auckland Route
The Thai government is planning to resume direct flights between Bangkok and Auckland ahead of the 2031 schedule, with potential for a partnership with Air New Zealand.
According to a report by Prachachat Business, the Thai government is working to accelerate the resumption of direct flights between Bangkok and Auckland. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, stated that Thai Airways is preparing to launch this route earlier than the previously established 2031 timeline.
To facilitate this, the airline is currently in discussions with Auckland Airport to secure flight slots in advance. Furthermore, the government is exploring the possibility of a code-share agreement with Air New Zealand to strengthen the route's viability and connectivity.
